CARE FOR YOUR NEW SLEEP SET
For proper care of all mattress sets excluding Tempur-Pedic®, we strongly recommend purchasing a Protect A Bed mattress pad. This is a high quality washable pad that protects your new mattress against most stains, bacteria and dust mites. Bedding manufacturers will not authorize a warranty return on a mattress with stains. If you detect a slight “new product” odor, leave the mattress and foundation uncovered for a few hours. It needs proper support. If you have a queen or king set, you need a good center support system to prevent bowing or breaking. Clean your mattress with a vacuum cleaner only. The chemicals in most cleaning agents or spot removers may harm the fabric. Rotating your mattress every couple of weeks at first then every couple of months, will help to equalize wear and to minimize body impressions that occur with most mattresses.
NEW MATTRESS SMELL
New bedding often has a “new mattress” odor. Most mattress made today use polyurethane foam as the primary cushioning material, which has an odor from the urethane polymers used to create the cell structure in the foam. These odors can remain trapped in the mattress until delivery. These odors are more prominent during the warmer summer and fall months of the year. Although this odor may bother some individuals, the manufacturer says it will go away after a few weeks of use. The odor can be reduced considerably by the use of a mattress pad. Sleeping on the mattress speeds the dissipation process since your body weight pumps fresh air through the foam, also leaving the mattress uncovered, or covered with only a sheet for the first couple of weeks helps. With your new Tempur-Pedic® mattress you can put it on the floor and walk on it to reduce the smell. Walking on a Tempur-Pedic® mattress forces the trapped gasses out.
ABOUT YOUR NEW TEMPUR-PEDIC® MATTRESS
Your TempurPedic® set comes with a washable, moisture-resistant, removable cover and should not be used with a standard mattress pad. There is a trial period for the mattress and standard foundation only. Adjustable bed foundations, pillows and accessories are non-returnable (other than for product defects). If you choose to return your mattress and/or foundation and you purchased or received a free a pillow or accessory at a package/discounted or promotional price, you will be charged our regular retail price for the non-returnable items. If you decide to reselect, you must contact your salesperson or any of the store managers within 75 days. This allows us time to return the product to Tempur-Pedic® within the 90-day trial period. There is a return fee of $199.99 on Tempur-Pedic® mattresses. We are required to return all used Tempur-Pedic mattresses, freight prepaid to the factory.
TODAY'S PLUSH MATTRESSES
Many of today's mattresses are much thicker and most sets may be higher off the floor than your old set. On most models, you can order a “low profile” foundation and/or a “low profile” bed frame to reduce the overall height. “Deep pocket” fitted sheets or sheet suspenders may be needed for your new mattress. No two mattresses are alike because they are hand-assembled. There may be minor imperfections that do not affect the warranty or the performance of the sleep set.  The foundation (box spring) should be replaced along with the mattress. Although you cannot see it, old box springs lose their strength and support over time. A new mattress placed on an old foundation may appear to sag when, in fact, it is the foundation causing the problem. The warranty on your mattress is to protect you against manufacturing or structural defects (such as a broken spring) for a specific period of time. The warranty is not intended to indicate how long the mattress should be comfortable. The comfort and support will likely decline over many years of use.
CONTOURING
Depressions up to 1 1/2” in your mattress are normal due to the added comfort layer of today's thicker and plusher models. These minor depressions, normally at your hip area, are not considered a valid warranty claim. A king mattress will almost always develop a ridge running down the center from head to foot. This normal ridge occurs for two reasons.
1. A king set requires two box springs under the mattress. Where these two box springs meet there is a firm border-edge. This creates a firmer zone with little give in the center of the mattress.
2. Couples gravitate toward their own side of the bed, so the center stays high and unused. With today's plush mattresses this is emphasized. Rotating the mattress will lessen the body contours.

TO KEEP YOUR MATTRESS IN GOOD CONDITION
Never allow anyone to stand or jump on the mattress. Your warranty will not cover any damage from misuse or abuse.
Don't bend the mattress. Bending the mattress could damage the inner-spring unit. However, sometimes it may be necessary to bend the mattress just a little going around corners during delivery. Never bend it to 90º. You shouldn't lift with the handles. Mattress handles are intended for positioning the mattress when it is lying flat on the foundation. They are not designed to support the full weight of the mattress.
